"Owned lots of Chev and GMC trucks and SUVs over the the years and generally thought GM truckline products were tough and well designed. However, even though like all my vehicles, the truck was meticulously maintained, I had to replace the camshaft at 70,000 miles, the gauge cluster at 77,000 miles, and now have a failed transmission shift switch I need to replace. When GM was asked for some help on the premature camshaft replacement, which I still believe was a manufacturing defect, they refused to even consider it. $4,500 later I now will never buy another GM truck, car or GM equipped motorhome or boat. FYI, used synthetic oil and changed every 3,000 miles with good quality WIX filters which should have been overkill as with synthetic you can usually go for at least 2X normal change interval. Still driving this rig, but have my eye on a Dodge RAM and also looking at Ford and Toyota."
