"I have a 2004 Explorer XLT with the 4.0 v6. Where to start, first off there is a known issue with the wiring for the power windows, they work sometimes. I have found that I have to simulate opening and closing the door really fast back and forth to get the wires to work to use the windows, second is the rear ford emblem plastic part right under the rear window cracks, I am on my fourth one.... The A/C seems to not divert the air as it is supposed to, when the A/C is on, the floor diverters stay open so my feet get the cold air more than my face, this also affects how much air goes to the back seat vents, not good for my florida weather. The v6 motor is way under powered for the explorer, even though it says it will pull up to 4,000 pounds in the book. The sun visors fell apart at around 46,000 miles, just driving down the highway and the entire sun visor just dropped into my lap, plastic got brittle. The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips. Overall I have put over 130,000 miles on it, but the upkeep has been brutal. Transmission rebuild, rear differential rebuild, A/C compressor, every front end and suspension component on the vehicle had to be replaced, because there is no way to grease anything on this vehicle. Ford has greatly disappointed me with this vehicle and I dont recommend this year explorer to anyone."
